Educake is different from other online homework solutions in several ways:
Customisability for teachers
Some other resources provide pre-set tests and worksheets that aren't customisable, or they provide a set course of content that your students work through from start to finish, regardless of where you are in the curriculum.
In Educake, you choose what questions you want in your quizzes from the thousands we have written. And don't worry - they're organised by spec points, so you can quickly find the topics you need. That means it's easy to assign quizzes on only what you want, when you want it.
Better informed students
Some other systems make students work through a system of questions, without telling them why they are doing it. We don't think that's the best way for students to learn. Instead, Educake shows them clearly what their best and weakest topics are, so they understand what they need to revise and study. Then, at a click of a button, Educake can create an automatic revision quiz for them on any topic they choose.
This means that students using Educake are more informed learners. They know what they need to revise and study and can take responsibility for their revision with Educake's quick and easy automatic quizzes.
Easy to use
We noticed that other online homework systems were clunky and difficult to use, so teachers and students never used them properly. Educake was designed to be easy to use for both teachers and students. That means you don’t have to waste time on training and learning how to use it. You can get started straight away.
Lower cost
We want Educake to be able to be used in all schools, even with tight budgets, so we've made it as affordable as possible. Educake for Science is £800 a year for unlimited students at KS3 and KS4, so it's often less than £1 per student a year. In comparison, for example, Tassomai is £20 per student per year, before discounts.
Higher quality content
Educake’s questions require students to do more than choose one of the options in front of them. They type in short answers, so Educake quizzes require students to practise recalling and using scientific terms. It also gives teachers better insight into their students’ misconceptions because you can see what they really think, not just their best guess from a list.
Quick and helpful support
We know that if you have a problem in school, you need it to be fixed quickly. That's why we aim to answer any support emails or chats within ten minutes. We'll also go out of our way to help make Educake work for you.
Designed by teachers
Most of Educake's features have been suggested and designed by teachers who use it all the time. If a teacher suggests an improvement, we work with them while we build it to make sure it's exactly what they need. It's only by doing this that we can keep improving Educake, in the right way.
