Why isn't Educake syncing student email addresses from Bromcom?

When your Wonde connection is active and your classes are syncing but your students' emails aren't showing, it's often due to how Bromcom prioritises email addresses.

Bromcom lets you store more than one email address per student, but only marks one of them as the Priority 1 address, and it's only this one that syncs across to Wonde then Educake.

If a student's school email is saved as a lower priority (or not marked as Priority 1), Wonde won't pick it up, even if the address itself is correct.

To fix this:

  1. Open the student's record in Bromcom. Find the student whose email isn't syncing and go into their individual profile.
  2. Check which email is currently set as Priority 1. If it's not the school email address you want Educake to use, you'll need to change this before adding the new one.
  3. Set the correct school email address as Priority 1. Each student can only have one Priority 1 email at a time, so if another address already holds that position, you'll need to update it first — Bromcom won't allow two Priority 1 emails on the same record.
  4. Save your changes in Bromcom. Once saved, the update should sync through to Educake on the next sync cycle.

Once you've saved your changes in Bromcom, it can take a few hours for them to appear in Wonde. Educake then syncs from Wonde overnight, so it's worth waiting until the next day before checking again.

If the email still isn't showing up in Educake after allowing time for both syncs, double-check that the sync has actually run, or get in touch with our support team at support@educake.co.uk.
